st dunstan’s-in-the-east Bridal Shoot
Nestled deep inside central London, lies this gorgeous courtyard, complete with remnants of an old cathedral, providing the perfect backdrop for our fairytale bridal shoot.
Fast forward a few years and I am still obsessed with this first bridal shoot I’d ever organised! Having seen photos of St Dunstan’s in the East, I knew immediately that I wanted to do a shoot here. As it was my first, I decided to start small, and so I set about creating a mood board and a small list of suppliers I would need. I ultimately chose to look for a dress supplier, a model, a make-up artist and a florist to help me turn the vision I had in my head into reality.
After a couple weeks of planning, I had gathered my amazing collaborators (their social media information can be found below!) and we set a date. Having discussed our ideas for the shoot, we loved the idea of a boho, ethereal look and decided to go ahead with this particular theme in mind.
The day started early at 8am; Charlie (model), Ella (make-up artist) and I met at our shoot location to get started on hair and make-up. By 10am, Ella had finished the soft, muted make up look with peaches and reds and I (with my very limited hair dressing skills) had managed to put Charlie’s curls up in a half-up style with braids, perfect for the boho vibe we were going for. At this time, Gemma (florist) also arrived with her beautifully arranged bouquet, using a colour palette of soft pinks, peach and a pop of red for a hint of vibrancy, all tied up with a silk ribbon to finish.
The last step before Charlie fully became a blushing bride was to get into the dress! Miina (dress maker), from Indie Bride London, lent two gorgeous, boho dresses for the shoot. The first was a flowing, layered chiffon dress with lacy off the shoulder sleeves and the other an elegantly minimal, smooth silk dress with a leg split at the front and open lace back.
Once we were all set, it was my turn! We slowly but surely made our way around the grounds, making use of every charming corner we came across to snap the stunning images I’m sharing with you here in this blog post (carry on scrolling to see them!).
I absolutely loved getting to know the suppliers and spending the day with them to create this shoot was such a wonderful experience. I hope you love the final images as much as I (and everyone involved) do and if you have any questions for me, please feel free to drop me a message here or an email at hello@yllweddings.com!
